"Sales of plant-based products grew 8.7 percent from 2014 to 2015, while overall food product sales grew 3.7 percent. Brown will be promoting his burger at the Whole Foods, off and on, for the next couple of weeks, and hopes to drive sales for his product which will sell for $5.99. What makes this burger unique from Beyond Meat’s Beast Burger, a frozen burger patty sold among other veggie burgers? The new product is a “fresh” burger, not frozen, and it not only does it stay moist, pink, and juicy when cooked, but it also bleeds (Don’t worry, it’s only beet juice)."
Says Brown: ”At the end of the day, people want to take home protein that tastes great, is healthy for themselves and their families, and represents a production process that they can feel good about. I think today we have accomplished this, together with Whole Foods."
