Vegan Chef Mindy Poortinga's Kibble Topper Recipe

Ready to treat your pup to another delicious and nutritious kibble topper? We've collaborated with vegan chef and foster mom Mindy Poortinga to bring you some tips on spicing up your doggie's meals!

Hey there, v-dog fans!!!

I’ve been doing senior dog hospice now for the last couple years in Las Vegas and since I got my dogs on a vegan diet, I have healthier dogs and dogs that seem like they plan on living forever! I found v-dog from one of my vegan meal clients.

My dogs LOVE my vegan food. Sweet potatoes and black beans are their favorites! Here is one of my little kibble toppers that I put together for my old slow-moving dog crew!

  • ½ cooked sweet potato
  • 1 can black beans (Remember to rinse! This cuts down on a gassy tummy.)
  • 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
  • A few cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 apple

Combine and sprinkle on top of your v-dog kibble!

Just for variety, I throw in some peanut butter and stir over low heat. Also, don’t be afraid to give your dogs other beans, veggies, and fruit.

Can you imagine eating the same thing day in and day out? Why not give your four-legged family member a little variety…that also adds a little nutritional value! :)
