Linda Middlesworth wins PETA Award after 20 Years of Ringling Protests

For over 20 years, Linda Middlesworth worked hard to combat the cruelty of Ringing Brother's Circus by bringing the local animal-loving community together and organizing protests.

Back in January, after 146 years in business, Ringling Bro's officially announced that they are closing all operations.

Animal rights activists around the globe rejoiced. Ringling's closure represents a huge milestone for activists who have worked tirelessly on the frontlines to protest, leaflet and start conversations about the mistreatment of circus animals.

Linda is overjoyed about this victory for animals: "I'm so proud of my PETA award for Helping to End Ringling's Cruelty! Together with PETA, and also Born Free, we won!"

"My heart goes out to the animals who had miserable lives under Ringling their entire lives," Linda says. "Thank you PETA for the tireless work you do worldwide on behalf of all animals used in entertainment, food, lab experiments, clothing and those who are left alone without shelter. You are the world's leading animal advocates and I am so proud to be a part of your volunteer staff."

Linda also accredits fellow Sacramento animal rights activists Camilla, Adrienne and Catherine in helping her orchestrate important protests over the years, sometimes in the 90+ degree weather.

A huge thank you to all of the animal rights activists out there. Your voice is important and it makes a huge difference.

Did you know Linda is in her 70s and recently won PETA's sexiest vegan over 50 award? Veganism definitely keeps you vibrant!
