CHICAGO — A Chicago law that would ban the sale of animals from puppy mills can now take effect after a federal judge dismissed a suit by breeding operations and pet stores who had hoped to kill the measure which was passed last year. The law will block stores in the city from selling any animal that was bred in a puppy mill, and retailers are now allowed to sell shelter animals and those from rescues and humane societies.
