Kolby Jack's Liver Enzymes Return to Normal on V-dog

Meet Kolby Jack and Margot, two vegan dogs who are here to show the world the power of a plant-based diet! Kolby Jack's days of emergency vet visits for are now a thing of the past, thanks to the drastic change in his liver health on v-dog.

V-dog passes the taste test

"Transitioning my dogs to v-dog went smoother than I had anticipated," says Lucy, mama to Kolby Jack and Margot. "I began by gradually combining some of their old food with v-dog, and I noticed that they started picking out the v-dog kibbles."

Lucy says that they never had any loose stool or stomach upsets throughout this transition. "In the past, when I tried transitioning them to other food (non-vegan) it was a disaster."

With v-dog, Lucy noticed so many benefits immediately.

"Their tear stains decreased, they had loads more energy, and it helped with the Kolby Jack's weight management." She noticed that there was significantly less tartar buildup on on their teeth as well.

Kolby Jack's previously regular hotspots also disappeared completely. But for Lucy, the most important factor in choosing a food was addressing Kolby Jack's extremely elevated ALT levels, which were affecting his liver.

Lucy spent thousands of dollars on tests to get to the root of this issue. "We tried different types of medications, each unsuccessful," she says. "For four years we kept getting his annual blood results, and the ALT level seemed to get worse."

V-dog to the rescue!

One day, Lucy stumbled upon v-dog. "I didn’t even know that a vegan dog food brand existed at that time. Coincidentally, I had become vegan two years ago to help with a health condition, which improved significantly. So, as a last resort, I thought perhaps this diet change for my poodles could be what helps them too."

She replaced their previous treats with vegetables and fruits they could eat, and placed an order for v-dog kibble. After the switch, she then waited several months to do another round of bloodwork. "I honestly didn't get my hopes too high, as I didn’t think that a simple diet change would improve their blood work results," she says.

"When I received that first bloodwork report, I was amazed that for the first time ever in my male poodle’s 5 year life, his ALT levels were normal."

Her vet was on board with Kolby Jack's new diet. "She was actually not surprised and said many dogs with liver issues seem to be better off on a vegetarian/vegan diet," says Lucy, who had expected backlash.

Lucy is grateful to be using a dog food that is ethical as well as nutritious. "I am extremely happy that while I am doing good for my dog’s health, I am also doing a great thing for the environment and not contributing to the demand of normal dog food that relies heavily on other animal products and animal suffering around the world."

Kolby Jack turned 6 and it’s the first time he celebrates his birthday completely healthy.

"I just want to express how thankful I am," says Lucy. She is happy to put the emergency vet visits and long nights of cure-Googling behind her.
