NYE can be very stressful for our furry family members...
First and foremost, make sure there is a safe space designated for your pup to enter freely. Filling a large crate (kennel) with blankets and toys and creating a ceiling with a blanket to make it nice and dark works wonders! You will notice your pup feeling most safe in the crate and choosing to spend most of the night in that safe space. Make sure to keep your pup inside of your home, being outside in the yard is dangerous and scary for all animals.
TREATS,TREATS,TREATS!
Having plenty of treats and an interactive treat dispenser can make ALL the difference. Keeping your pup focused on a task and excited about yummy rewards can shift their focus from all of the scary noises.
Make sure to keep some sort of background sound on at all times. Try a "dog tv" video from youtube, play some nice relaxing music or throw on a movie. This will help to mask some of the noises that will be much more frightening if it's silent in your home.
Last but definitely not least, staying home with your fur children is the absolute best thing that you can do to help them feel safe and sound.
We hope that these tips & tricks help to keep your pups somewhat relaxed during NYE.
