Lower Your Dog's Carbon Pawprint

As pet parents, we have a lot to consider -- where to find a dog, what to feed them, which products to use. What are the most responsible choices from a sustainability perspective? The US dog population has a significant carbon footprint that often gets overlooked.

In a new feature, VegNews editor Tanya Flink and v-dog Vice President Lindsay Rubin talk about how to lower your pup's carbon footprint and keep them happy, healthy, and thriving.

"The practice of breeding more dogs to meet the demand of people seeking purebreds, while hundreds of thousands of animals who need a loving home remain in shelters or are euthanized, is an irresponsible practice, both environmentally and ethically," says VegNews. According to Lindsay Rubin of v-dog, rescuing (not purchasing or breeding) dogs and feeding them a plant-based diet is optimal.
